About the event

Marsh’s Sass: A Taste of Barrow

A Documentary Film by Dan Charles

For generations, Marsh’s Sass was more than just a fizzy drink – it was a taste of home, a symbol of Barrow-in-Furness and a much-loved part of the town’s history.

But what made this iconic drink so special? And whatever happened to its closely guarded secret recipe?

Join filmmaker Dan Charles on a nostalgic, funny and heartfelt journey through the history of Marsh’s Sass, uncovering the remarkable story of a local family business that became a Barrow institution.

Featuring former factory workers, members of the Marsh family and local characters, this 30-minute documentary celebrates the people, memories and community spirit behind one of Barrow’s most treasured brands.
